I Biennial of Emergent Art. the kinetic legacy

I Biennial of Emergent Art. the kinetic legacy

The Ministry for Popular Power for the Culture acting through the National Museums Foundation convokes to the I Biennial of Emergent Art. The kinetic legacy, conceived as an event where meeting, discussion and the projection of ideas and proposals of the contemporary visual artists should take place. In its first edition, the Biennial offers to open a space for the revisions of the discursive and formal elements of kinetic art, with the intention of generating renewed readings of notions and purposes, which in turn, encouraged the emergence of this movement and their consequent impact on the current visual arts.

THEMATIC
Kinetic art established, in the second half of the 20th century, a new aesthetic sensibility with the incorporation of the movement - in its multiple modalities- as basic principle in its research. The contributions promoted by this Avant-Garde tendency constitute one of the most significant legacies in the history of the universal art, particularly taking into account the relevant participation of the Venezuelan and Latin American artists into this current.

Within the framework of these considerations, The I Biennial of Emergent Art. The Kinetic legacy, intends to reflect, beyond the chronological classifications, about artistic practices related with this important movement. In his line of thoughts, the Biennial encompasses different expressions where their proposals show interconnections or links with the postulates of the Kinetic art. The development of this tendency over time, has acquired new contents, meanings and approaches that enriches the cognitive and perceptive fields, giving rise to new languages born in recent years. These inquiries lead to an opening as to the artistic positions assumed by the creators, which go beyond of the initial topics which triggered the origin of this form of expression. In this line of thoughts, we seek to read and to evaluate the scope and influences and its repercussions within the universal contemporary art.

Reinterpretation:

It refers to those proposals which allude to the basic concepts of kinetic art, such as: space, time, mass, energy, materialization, dematerialization, vibration, movement (virtual, mechanical, optical, environmental, cybernetic or technological), structuring, dynamics, constructivism, neo-constructivism, light and color.

Opening:

It is about those proposals that start from the kinetic postulates with renewed approaches, revalorizing certain aspects of this movement, in order to make innovative readings.
